MADISON, Wisconsin – The Wisconsin Badgers men’s basketball team placed in the top 5 in the Associated Press varsity basketball poll.
The Badgers took fourth place in the latest poll.
Gonzaga and Baylor remain the top two teams in the PA’s first regular-season college men’s basketball poll.
The Zags received 57 first-place votes from a 63-person media panel. The Bears received six first-place votes, with Iowa, Wisconsin and Illinois completing the top five.
Gonzaga was preseason No.1 and lived up to the bill by rolling over Kansas and Auburn to Fort Meyers, Fla.
The Jayhawks dropped a place to 7th overall this week, but were ranked for the 222nd straight week, breaking the UCLA all-time record between 1966 and 1980.
Villanova and Virginia plunged from losses as Virginia Tech entered the standings in 16th and Richmond in 19th.
