Babylon: Brad Pitt and Margot Robbie party in 1920s Hollywood in their latest film – Yahoo Eurosport

The trailer for Brad Pitt and Margot Robbie’s latest film, Babylon, has finally dropped, and it looks like it’s going to be an absolute riot.

Set in the 1920s, and also starring Mexican actor Diego Calva, the film details a hedonistic Hollywood as the industry transitioned from silent films to talkies.

The two-minute trailer is nothing short of breathtaking: there are outlandish dance sequences, vintage cars roaring for leather across deserts, Robbie is heralded as a star, surrounded by hungry photographers and reporters, shots of some of the Hollywood movies being made, drug-taking scenes and subsequent spinoffs, battle scenes, incredible costumes, guns being fired in luxurious LA villas, Pitt and Robbie in dozens of incredible outfits . There is not a moment to catch your breath.

“Always make a scene,” commands the trailer, which seems to show us absolutely everything that’s going to happen in the film, without revealing anything specific about the plot.

At the end of the trailer, Robbie’s character is at a black tie pool party. “Who wants to see me fight a fucking snake?” she screams, looking exhausted. “F**k yeah,” Pitt’s character shouts, as the rest of the party cheers.

The chaotic trailer sparked excitement online: “This movie looks crazy, I’ve been dying to watch it since it was announced, like The Wolf of Wall Street meets Once Upon a Time in Hollywood, can’t wait!” commented a fan on the video.

“Damien Chazelle keeps proving his talent time and time again,” said another.

The film was written and directed by Damien Chazelle, whose past writing and directing credits include Academy Award-winning La La Land and Academy Award-winning Whiplash. The film also has a solid cast, which includes Jean Smart (Mare of Easttown), Li Jun Li (Sex/Life), Tobey Maguire, Samara Weaving (Snake Eyes), Olivia Wilde, Katherine Waterston (Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them) and Jeff Garlin.

Over the past two months, Robbie has caused a stir on the internet as photos of the actor in his ’80s Barbie outfit (think fluorescent visors, pink lycra all-in-one) amused fans. She stars in the upcoming Greta Gerwig-directed film as Barbie alongside Ryan Gosling who plays Ken.

Pitt has also been the subject of much discussion recently following the August release of his latest film Bullet Train, a comic book-style action about five assassins on a speeding train from Tokyo to Kyoto. “The high-speed train only takes a little over two hours, but you start to wonder if it will ever reach the terminus,” The Standard said.

Babylon arrives in UK cinemas on January 20, 2023.
