Kyle is having the best time of his life at 51, and it’s all thanks to his fatherhood.
The controversial KIIS FM host, who was previously warned by doctors that his party lifestyle would send him to an untimely grave, now spends his nights caring for his newborn son Otto.
“I used to watch for hours and hours on TV, and now I’m sitting there watching it and it’s really been a joy,” he told Daily Mail Australia.

“I just sat at home the whole time, which I enjoyed. I’m more at home now than I was with the lockdowns, so we’re loving every second of it.
‘I’m quite happy actually. I can’t imagine being happier.
Kyle, who welcomed Otto with his fiancée Tegan Kynaston in August, admitted he never dreamed of having children but now he’s “thrilled” he decided to take the plunge and become a dad.
At the height of his party in the late 2000s, Kyle suffered from drug addiction and battled depression.

In 2018, he said he had ‘self-medicated and pushed back dozens of lines’ and his lifestyle often caused him to miss work, including skipping two live eviction shows while hosting Big Brother with Jackie ‘O’ Henderson in 2008.
Though fatherhood sweetens him these days, the outspoken star promises viewers won’t get a politically correct Kyle when he returns to screens as a judge on the upcoming Australian Idol reboot.
‘Oh my god, are you kidding?’ he scoffed when asked if he would let today’s woke culture stifle his famous unfiltered persona on the family show.
“I used to watch hours and hours of TV, and now I just sit there watching it and it’s really been a joy,” Kyle (pictured with son Otto) told Daily Mail Australia .
“I even asked Channel Seven when they called me into the meeting room and said, ‘We want you back. “And I was like, ‘Listen. I could not be one of these judges of light and love”.
“I am very picky. Not bad, but I’m not going to pretend they’re awesome. I said, “If they’re shitty, we’ll tell them they’re shitty. Or they’re deceived. Or they have to work on it.”
“I said I’ll be as nice as I can be, but I won’t be like a vocal coach. It’ll be like the harsh realities of the business side of the business.
Kyle added that her role on the jury, which also includes Harry Connick Jr, Meghan Trainor and singer-songwriter Amy Shark, is to “cut the trash”.
But with a newborn baby and his role as half on KIIS FM’s The Kyle and Jackie O Show, does Kyle worry he has too much to do?
“I was at the start,” he admitted.
“I’ve never been a father before so I wasn’t sure what to expect, but we’re lucky he’s doing pretty well and settling in,” he continued. .
Although fatherhood is sweetening him these days, Kyle promises he’ll continue to be outspoken on the upcoming Australian Idol reboot. He is pictured with Mark Holden and Marcia Hines on the original series
“He has a good mum who is very committed. She wasn’t too thrilled when she found out I was going to disappear from the house for 20 days, but there are a few times I come back between different cities, so we we worked around that.
She does not care. She understands that the work is quite important.
And with family life going so well, Kyle and Tegan haven’t ruled out having more kids in the future.
“We said we’ll see how the first one goes and even though it’s going really well, we just realized we have friends who have two or three kids and they look like battered wrecks and they can never get out, he said.
“But it hasn’t been ruled out, but we’ll just work our way through the first one, and if Tegan feels like he wants a second one, we’ll discuss it.
“I’m in, but we’ll see how we go with that one first.”

Channel Seven has first announced plans for a reboot of Australian Idol in 2020.
At the time, the network slated the show for a 2022 release, but it’s now taking place in 2023 instead.
The reboot will mark Kyle’s second time appearing on the show, following his stint on the original series from 2005 to 2009.
The 51-year-old quit the original show in 2009 after a series of scandals, including referring to 2005 winner Kate DeAraugo’s arms as “tuckshop lady arms”.
He will be joined for the new season by American artists Harry Connick Jr. and Meghan Trainor, as well as Australian singer-songwriter Amy Shark.
Former Australian Idol contestant Ricki-Lee Coulter and TV personality Scott Tweedie will host.
