August 2022’s Free PS Plus Games Could Be Sony’s Best This Year – GameSpot

As many subscription services often see, there have been many ups and downs for PSMore This year. Many free-to-play games earlier this year received mixed or negative reception, with even PS Plus’ “Big March” model falling short of previous years. At the same time, the launch of PS Plus Extra and Premium has been well received by fans around the world. With continued support for PS Plus Extra and Premium, Game Pass may get its money’s worth, though Sony thinks it will take years.

GAMER VIDEO OF THE DAY

The Essential level, just a few months ago, was the only level. PS Plus free games have gone through periods of good and bad games, with late 2020/early 2021 being perhaps the best the service has ever seen. 2022 has been mixed by comparison.

2022’s free PS Plus games have been a mixed bag

Without the PS5 launching fresh on everyone’s mind and less-than-ideal titles joining the service month after month, 2022 has yet to be the best year for essential PS Plus, and that’s saying something. . God of the war finally honored PS Plus Essential for June this year, but it wasn’t the blockbuster you could give it, it was also a repeat for PS Plus Extra. Beyond that, each month is pretty much everything. Very few simple games could carry an entire month, God of the war included, and it was paired with two titles that had remarkably low reviews Naruto to Boruto: Shinobi Striker and Nickelodeon All-Star Brawl.

Overall, the PS Plus free games for July were better, but still featured repeat and were overshadowed by the release of PS Plus Extra and Premium. It has released 18 titles on these two levels, after all, compared to Essential’s 3. PS Plus Free Games August 2022, however, is notably one of the best months of the year, fans can grab Tony Hawk’s Pro Skater 1+2 Cross-Gen Deluxe Bundle, Yakuza: Like a Dragon, and Little Nightmares. These are all top-notch additions, but it should be noted that the year as a whole suggests that the final months of the year would be mixed. It would be nice to be wrong, but a good apple does not redeem the bunch.

PS Plus Extra and Premium could become the focus

Overall, though, expecting less from PS Plus Essential doesn’t apply to the whole tiered service now. Sony has already added a ton of beloved games and confirmed more Assassin’s Creed and Yakuza games for PS Plus Extra and Premium as well. It might not be the best approach, but it seems safe to say that the loss of PS Plus Essential could be the gain of Extra and Premium. Of course, hindsight is 20/20, and it will be interesting to look back to 2022 in 2023 and see how Sony has balanced the different levels of its service.

PSMore subscribers receive a handful of games each month.
