Auburn fully embraces the Happy Valley theme.
With the Penn State No.10 hosting the No.22 Auburn for their annual White Out game at Beaver Stadium, the Tigers revealed their uniform suit for the big game on Saturday – and unveiled an alternate helmet that suits the theme of the evening. Auburn will be wearing his usual all-white jerseys for the road game at State College, Penn., With a slight adjustment: the team’s helmets will have white masks.
This is the first time the Tigers have worn white masks, according to a tweet from Auburn’s deputy director of sports marketing Daniel Heck. Auburn’s helmets typically feature Navy masks, but the team opted to switch things up for their renowned non-conference game against Penn State in what will be the first-ever regular-season meeting between the two programs and the Auburn’s first Big Ten road game in 90 years.
The last time Auburn wore an alternate helmet it was against a Big Ten opponent as well. For the Outback Bowl at the end of the 2019 season, Auburn unveiled another helmet in honor of Pat Sullivan, the former Heisman winner who died on December 1, 2019. This helmet featured a gray mask, with the logo of the AU shield on one side. on the helmet and Sullivan # 7 on the other.
The team’s official Twitter account on Saturday morning called the day’s uniform suit “light mode” as the Tigers make their way to Beaver Stadium, where a crowd of more than 106,000 – almost all dressed in white – waiting for them.
Auburn (2-0) and Penn State (2-0) will start at 6:30 p.m. CT on ABC.
