Emirates airline and tech company Huawei have joined forces to boost the brand awareness of the two entities in various markets including China and the Middle East and Africa region.
The partnership will also include the launch of customer-centric initiatives, including enhanced and engaging experiences for Huawei smartphone users when booking tickets and planning trips on the Emirates app, available on the AppGallery. the companies said in a joint statement on Tuesday.
With over 530 million monthly active users, AppGallery is Huawei’s official distribution platform and one of the world’s top three app marketplaces.
As part of the new deal, Emirates will also support Huawei’s search engine, Petal Search, on smart devices in the MEA region.
The pact was signed between Orhan Abbas, senior vice president of business operations – Far East – at Emirates and Lu Geng, vice president of Mea at Huawei, in the Arab travel market underway 2021 in Dubai.
The latest initiative builds on existing partnerships signed between Huawei and Emirates last year. The Emirates app was made available on AppGallery at the start of last year and in September new features were added to it to enable faster bookings and personalized offers via the smartphone.
The Emirates app provides access to a range of services and functions from finding flights and booking tickets to check-in, seat and meal selection, as well as Skywards account information. It has been installed over a million times from the AppGallery so far.
The AppGallery is also attracting a growing number of developers, with 2.3 million currently registered, a 77% increase from last year. As of March, there were over 70,000 registered developers in the Mea region.
