The Skoltech Center for Hydrocarbon Recovery (CHR) invites applications for a professorship with a provisional start date of September 2020 (later start dates may be considered).
A candidate must hold a doctorate. degree (or equivalent) in physics, mechanics, mathematics, chemistry or petroleum engineering and has extensive practical experience in experimental design of improved oil recovery methods (EOR), optimization of floods and production, development and implementation of improved and improved oil recovery methods, chemical additives for EOR, including surfactants and polymers. He / She must have an in-depth understanding of special core analyzes and experimental chemical EOR design methods and be able to design and implement a chemical oil recovery method for different tanks, including carbonate tanks and low permeability tanks. Industrial experience in the design and implementation of EOR projects are essential.
The candidate must have proven competence in generating complex proposals for improved oil recovery R&D projects, negotiating contracts with industry partners, as well as their subsequent execution. The candidate must have at least 5 years of experience in research supervision and in the management of major international research projects, executed by multicultural and multidisciplinary teams. Previous teaching experience in English as well as good research and business relationships with international educational and scientific institutions are essential.
The successful candidate will have a proven ability to have a significant impact on research and provide leadership in strategic research and education in one or more CHR research disciplines to develop the CHR / Skoltech reputation in the oil and gas industry and the academic level. The duties of the faculty include higher education, student counseling and innovation projects, conducting basic and applied research. All activities at Skoltech are carried out in English, therefore applicants must have excellent verbal and written communication skills in English.
The mission of the CHR is to conduct research, education and innovations in the field of oil recovery. Particular emphasis is placed on the exploration and production of unconventional resources that are difficult to recover. The main directions of the CHR are geomechanics, improved oil recovery, exploration and production technologies of unconventional reservoirs, advanced reservoir simulations, permafrost and gas hydrates. CHR cooperates closely with the Russian industry and focuses its research, education and innovation activities on the current and future technological needs of the oil and gas industry. The CHR collaborates closely with other CREIs from Skoltech and with the main Russian and international universities / research centers, including Moscow State University Moscow, Moscow Institute of Physics and Technology, University of oil and gas named Gubkin, Massachusetts Institute of Technology, University of Calgary, University of Herriot -Watt and others.
