Arsenal have been heavily linked with a decision to sign Shakhtar Donetsk striker Mykhaylo Mudryk, and the Ukrainian has shown his class in the Champions League this season.
The Gunners have had a sensational campaign so far. They really look like title contenders but the big concern everyone has about Mikel Arteta’s side is their lack of squad depth.
A player like Mudryk would be fantastic for them.
Arsenal target Mykhaylo Mudryk is the fastest player in the Champions League this season
Fabrizio Romano revealed earlier this week that Arsenal, who were heavily linked with a move to sign Mudryk in the summer transfer window, are still interested in his services.
The talented 21-year-old has been on fire for Shakhtar this season, scoring eight goals and providing seven assists in just 15 games in all competitions.
Mudryk has really impressed this term, especially in the Champions League. Its potential was described as “scary” by Ben Jacobsand he will be on the shortlist of a number of clubs in the next two transfer windows.
UEFA have released their list of the fastest Champions League players this season. Nuno Tavares, on loan from Arsenal, is fifth on the list with a top speed of 36.2km/h, but it’s Mudryk who leads the way with a blistering pace of 36.6km/h.
That kind of speed is terrifying for any defender, and he could be a real star at Arsenal, who have some quick players themselves.

Arsenal’s first choice left winger is currently Gabriel Martinelli.
The young Brazilian has been absolutely amazing so far this season, and his performances have earned him a call up to Brazil’s World Cup squad, which is a superb achievement.
However, with Emile Smith Rowe injured, Arsenal’s only other option on the left flank is Reiss Nelson. The Englishman is a good player, but he’s just not at the same level as Martinelli.
This is why Arsenal need to strengthen in the January transfer window and Mudryk would be an outstanding addition to Arteta’s squad.
