Arsenal mock their own anthem as Aston Villa legend Gabby Agbonlahor twists the knife on Instagram

talkSPORT’s Gabby Agbonlahor took very little time to mock Arsenal after their Premier League title chances were dealt a major blow.

The Aston Villa legend saw his beloved club beat the Gunners 2-0 thanks to late goals from Leon Bailey and Ollie Watkins.

It’s a result that moves Villa into fourth in the Premier League, but keeps Arsenal second and two points behind leaders Manchester City.

Mikel Arteta’s side had the chance to take control of the title race but failed to do so, leading Agbonlahor to gloat over his misery.

Shortly after finishing full time, he went live on his Instagram account while sitting in his living room, with Sky Sports showing the results on his TV.

In the background, the song North London Forever could be heard through Agbonlahor’s speakers.

The anthem, written by Gunners fan Louis Dunford, was released in 2022 and is now played before the match at the Emirates Stadium.

But Agbonlahor, who scored 86 goals for Villa, did not sing in unison with the Arsenal supporters and instead mocked them after a bitter defeat.

“North London forever, whatever the weather,” he could be heard signing before bursting out laughing, then saying: “Woohoo!”

Villa’s victory was their second against Arsenal this season and saw the Gunners fall into the league for the first time in 2024.

Arteta’s side went into the weekend top of the table, with City’s 5-1 win over Luton Town putting the pressure on them on Sunday.

Even Liverpool’s shock 1-0 defeat at home to Crystal Palace gave an even greater chance to take the lead in the first season.

Gabby Agbonlahor previews the Premier League title race and backs Manchester City to win the trophy ahead of rivals Liverpool and Arsenal.

But Arsenal, who have been so impressive all season, were way off the pace and ultimately had to pay for the missed chances.

Their former goalkeeper, Emiliano Martinez, made a superb save to deny Leandro Trossard in the first half, with Bukayo Saka shooting wide soon after.

Villa themselves had chances of their own and hit the woodwork twice before substitute Bailey scored the decisive opener in the 84th minute.

Watkins followed up with an excellent chip moments later to seal the victory and hand Arsenal a defeat they were desperate to avoid.
