Declan Rice refused to celebrate after scoring a goal as Arsenal ran riot against West Ham on Sunday.
Arsenal rip West Ham to shreds on Sunday at the London Stadium with Rice leading the charge as the Gunners scored SIX goals after an hour.
And the sixth came courtesy of a familiar face in east London after Rice unleashed a long-range howitzer which flew past Alphonse Areola.
But the England international, who made more than 200 appearances for West Ham, refused to celebrate even as away fans jubilant.
As well as scoring against his former team, Rice also picked up two assists – something he had never managed before in a Premier League match.
Arsenal fans loved Rice’s goal, although some wished he had celebrated it.
This includes TalkTV’s Piers Morgan, who wanted the midfielder to silence the booing supporters inside the London Stadium.
He posted on X: “BOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOM!!!! 0-6.
“An absolute howler from @_DeclanRice who refused to celebrate because he’s classier than the West Ham fans who booed him. He was the buy of the century.”
Another wrote: “Fair play to Declan Rice for waiting until all the West Ham fans had gone home before scoring. »
And a third said: “Declan Rice clearly respects the celebration police. »
Rice was taken off immediately after scoring by Mikel Arteta, who also replaced Bukayo Saka and Leandro Trossard with the result in the bag.
In truth, the match ended at halftime with the score 4-0 to the Gunners, or so many West Ham fans thought after leaving the pitch.
Arsenal will have a busy month in the coming weeks when they face Burnley next week and also Porto in the Champions League.
While the north Londoners are in the hunt for a Premier League title, European glory is also in their sights with some big hitters missing this season.
