Feyenoord manager Arne Slot is a candidate to replace Jurgen Klopp as Liverpool manager, according to talkSPORT.
The Reds are still working out their final list, but have been impressed with the work Slot has done at Feyenoord.
He also gets high marks on Liverpool’s data-driven approach to choosing Klopp’s successor.
Slot was wanted by Tottenham before appointing Ange Postecoglu last summer.
The Dutchman ruled himself out of the race to take over at Spurs where he ended up signing a new contract with De Kuip.
As talkSPORT reported on Monday, Sporting’s Ruben Amorim is not considered a likely candidate to take over at Anfield when Klopp leaves this summer.
Wolves boss Gary O’Neil is also not in the running despite reports to the contrary.
Slot has received rave reviews since linking up with Feyenoord in 2021, with his fluid style of play earning him plenty of plaudits.
In his 146 games as manager in all competitions, he won 94 times, with his team scoring 329 goals in the process.
Under Slot’s tutelage, Feyenoord won their second Eredivisie title this century, finishing seven points ahead of PSV.
And this season he has guided the club to KNVB Cup glory, as the club looks set to miss out on PSV in the elite championship this season.
Slot almost won the inaugural Europa Conference League in 2022, but Feyenoord lost 1-0 to Jose Mourinho’s Roma.
Although Slot faces an uncertain future, Feyenoord technical director Dennis te Kloese said he was confident the 45-year-old would stay at the club beyond the summer.
He told ESPN: “I think it makes sense that he’s in such a good position.
“It’s very special the way he has manifested himself in recent years and really given a face to Feyenoord.
“We responded by extending his contract. In any case, we assume that he will also be our coach next year.
“We have been through this situation before and we will take good care of our own interests.”
