Ariana Grande begged Rihanna to “drop her album” after breaking the singer’s streaming record.
Grande shared a screenshot of an @chartdata tweet from earlier this week, which announced her as “the most streamed female artist of all time on Spotify” – surpassing the 20.5 billion mark. Rihanna’s stream.
She responded “Holy shit” and thanked the fans for “listening and caring” about her music, before dropping the request.
“Now can Rihanna ditch her album so that she can rightly get it back and fill my ears please or…” she wrote.
Rihanna kept fans waiting for the sequel to 2016’s ‘Anti’, her eighth album.
Last month, she assured her fans that new music is on the way, claiming in an update that she is “still working” on writing new tracks.
“I’m still working on the music and when I’m ready to release it like I feel fit, it’ll come out,” she says. “And you won’t be disappointed when that happens. It will be worth it.
“I’m not just going to turn it off just because people are waiting,” she continued. “It took so long, I’ll make it worth it.”
