Player-turned-pundit Jerome Rothen took the time to discuss the upcoming Champions League tie between Bayern Munich and Paris Saint-Germain on RMC Sport’s ‘Rothen Ignites’.
Unsurprisingly, Rothen respects Bayern Munich’s current situation and what it has done, but he believes PSG will make some changes to strengthen the squad as the teams go head-to-head.
“If the game was played today, it would be a feat to qualify, considering what Bayern are giving off in the Champions League,” Rothen said (as captured by PSGTalk.com). “Bayern is a machine, an institution. But PSG in February will be different. Collectively, they will manage to have a slightly more inspired transfer window, as Luis Campos said, with a defender and a striker arriving.
“It can put PSG collectively not far from Bayern. … In what psychological state will the stars of PSG be? All three are doing well today. If they are doing well in February, why not compete with Bayern.”
PSG already have a strong talent base in their squad, so if they make a significant move, it could be very interesting to see what happens. Bayern Munich, however, seem content to roll with the talent that got them to this point and will avoid the winter transfer window.
Will this be enough to retain what could be a rejuvenated PSG team?
