Apple has started manufacturing the iPhone 14 in India, the company confirmed in a statement, with locally-made models expected to go on sale later this year.
In a statement to TechCrunch, Apple said it was “delighted to manufacture iPhone 14 in India”, just weeks after its launch. In the past, India served as a production hub for older generation iPhone models, while its production of newer models only started several months after their global launch.
Apple and its main supplier Foxconn have increased their investments in India in recent years by training staff and opening new facilities. Analysts say Apple plans to produce 25% of all iPhones in India by 2025, with other products such as iPad, Apple Watch and AirPods expected to follow.
