Apple said on Friday it was replacing AirPods Pro headphones that had sound issues.
These issues include static or crackling sound that increases in noisy environments and issues with active noise cancellation.
Apple said AirPods made after October 2020 don’t have the problem.
Owners who are having issues can contact Apple online or make an appointment at an Apple Store to have their AirPods Pro replaced for free. Only devices with a confirmed problem will be replaced.
The replacement only applies to the earphones, not the charging case. Apple does not offer a similar program for other AirPod models.
Crackling issues with AirPod Pros were reported by users earlier this year. In May, Apple posted support documents on its website with troubleshooting tips for the issue. He replaced these units under warranty.
Apple AirPods are a popular line of wireless headphones. Apple doesn’t divide AirPods revenue, but it reported $ 7.8 billion in revenue for other products in the quarter ending September, which includes AirPods, other headphones, and the Apple Watch.
