Apple has removed Russia’s biggest social networking app, VKontakte, from the App Store, along with a host of other apps from the developer.
VKontakte, a popular Russian social networking app with millions of downloads, has disappeared from the App Store. For now, the reason for the withdrawal has not been revealed.
VK, the company behind the app, released a statement on Monday, spotted by The edge. It informed users that several of their apps had been removed from the App Store. This includes Mail.ru, VK Music and Youla classified apps.
The statement informs users that if an app is already installed on a compatible device, it will continue to work. However, users may experience issues with notifications or payments.
They also informed users that they can continue to use VKontakte from mobile browsers and the desktop app.
In March, Apple halted all online sales in Russia after its invasion of Ukraine. Sales did not pick up in September.
