They confirmed their relationship at the Vanity Fair Oscar party in late March, but have reportedly been dating for over a year.
Speaking to Harper’s Bazaar, Anya opened up about their relationship, saying, “I was so excited to put down a toothbrush, knowing I didn’t have to take it back.”

“I haven’t seen this toothbrush in about a year, but at the time it was awesome.” It’s fun waking up and going to breakfast, doing car maintenance and sorting things out…
“I know it sounds silly, but that’s what we crave. We just crave, like, to live together.
Rumors have swirled that Anya and her boyfriend Malcolm secretly got married after she was repeatedly photographed in Sydney wearing what appears to be a wedding band, but has yet to comment on the speculation.
According to Page Six, the couple tied the knot in July in a ceremony at the US courthouse.
Anya declined to confirm or deny rumors she secretly married her musician boyfriend during an interview with last month’s issue of Vogue Australia.
“I think when people want to say something, they say something,” she said cryptically.

In the interview, she described the importance of having your voice heard in Hollywood and the power of saying no.

She said: “I’ve always been very direct with my ideas – but there’s definitely a point where, unfortunately, I think society has baked it into our brains to think, maybe it’s not to me to say it, or maybe I need to stay quiet a bit longer and then offer a solution, because I don’t want to overstep.
“Over the past two years I’ve definitely learned to say ‘Hey, that’s not okay with me’ or ‘You’re not listening to me’ – and I don’t think I would have succeeded if I hadn’t been pushed in a certain way, because I’m naturally a people pleaser. But eventually, you get trampled enough that you start to stand up and say no.
Anya received worldwide recognition when she had her breakthrough role in The Witch in 2015.
She described how she developed her work ethic from the film, saying, “It gave me the cornerstones of how I work now, which is basically the idea that there’s no On-set hierarchy: You work hard, you stay on top of the game, and you don’t assume someone else is going to do it for you.

“Your title doesn’t stop at the actor – you’re a creative on this film, and that’s how you have to approach it.”
Although she received rave reviews for her performance, Anya said, “I thought I had done a really bad job and saw myself failing miserably with this dream I had for so long.” I guess I’m not always the best judge of my own work.
She went on to star in other critically acclaimed works, such as her acclaimed portrayal of Beth Harmon in The Queen’s Gambit.
Speaking about her character development and working with the film’s director, Scott Frank, she said: “I didn’t choose to be a method actress, nor do I want to be, but I notice that the more I work, the fuzzier this line becomes.

“I saw it all in my head immediately – I knew exactly how to do it. Before the audition, I had to swallow the book in an hour, and I physically ran to meet Scott. I felt Beth very strong.
Anya moved around countries as a child, which she says prepared her for the demands of the acting industry.
She explained: “I feel like as a kid I got the best possible training for the nomadic nature of this job…Now when people ask me where home is, I say, home is where I slept longer than two nights.’
She also said that she considers interviews, photo shoots and red carpet appearances to be creative challenges.

She said: “I think I have a hard time accepting the idea of people caring about me as a person, because that’s not what I said.”

I’m lucky to work with people who are as creative as I am, and together we build whole stories. It’s funny, because I’m an artist and making art is all I want to do.
Anya admitted she’s faced “dark experiences” in the film industry, but believes hard work and kindness prevail.

She said: “I think everything has an equal measure of light and dark. I’ve certainly had the dark experiences of it – but I note that in terms of long-term strategy, kindness will be in order.
“If you work hard and are good with people, they want to keep working with you, then another door opens.”
She also opened up about how she decides which projects to work on, explaining, “Saying no is really hard for me because I always want to do everything.”
But she added: “But I’m lucky to be in a position where I can ask myself, do you feel passionate enough about this to spend seven months living across the world, away from everyone you know and love?” Will it support you? And if the answer is yes, you probably should.
