ANTONIO COLAK believes a quick start was key to victory over Hearts as Rangers prepare for a Battle of Britain showdown with Liverpool.

The Croatian scored his tenth and eleventh goals of a terrific campaign with two clinical strikes in the first half to put the visitors on course for a decisive victory at Tynecastle.

Alfredo Morelos and Ryan Kent added some deserved shine to Giovanni van Bronckhorst’s side result by passing a tricky test with flying colors.

Now all attention is focused on the glamorous connection to Liverpool as Rangers attempt to kick off their Champions League campaign with a shock Group A win at Anfield on Tuesday night.

Colak said: “It’s always a tough away game here at Hearts. We had the break and it’s tough to start but we wanted to set our standards really high.

“I think we started the game very well and scored some quick goals and we controlled the game until the end.

“It was very important for us [to start quickly] because often in the season already we created chances but maybe we didn’t score the first goal.

“Today we did that and it helped us a lot with our confidence and our style of play and after the red card we just had to control the game and go for the third and fourth goals.

“I am very happy [to score]. I’m hungry, that’s why I came. I like it, I like to party with our fans.

“Thanks to them for the support. We now have a short break and are waiting for Tuesday.

“We just have to focus on ourselves. We know Anfield will be a tough game, but we just have to focus on ourselves and play a good game and then we’ll see what we get out of it.”
