Anthony Joshua appeared to give a promising update on Tyson Fury’s fight after a ‘positive meeting’ with his management team today.
The unified heavyweight champion didn’t specifically refer to the Fury fight in his comments, but the camps are known to be in the midst of negotiations to try and finalize the contest.
AJ tweeted on Tuesday: “Another positive encounter with 258 Management.
“They informed me that things were going well.
“They will share the update with Eddie [Hearn] and you will hear from me soon.
AJ Hearn promoter and Fury co-promoter Bob Arum worked on the remaining issues while trading contracts.
Arum told Fight Night on talkSPORT last week, “All I’ll say about what’s going on is the Matchroom side and ours, which includes Queensberry and Robert Davis (Tyson’s attorney).
“The negotiations were pleasant, they are unfolding like any great fight.
“We’ve made changes, they take some of them, they send them back and forth. And all I can say is that the problems gradually diminish.
“That’s what you want to do in this type of situation, you want to decrease the number of problems.
“And now the number of problems is less than a handful, so I’m very optimistic that it will exceed the limit.”
Hearn told the Boxing News podcast before that: “There will be [minor issues] when you go down to the locker room and that.
“But that’s what you’re working on to solve it.
“When you talk about Deontay Wilder vs. Joshua [negotiations], we never even had a contact project.
“With that, that is – all the points have been discussed, the contract has been drawn up, it has been received, it comes and goes with minor points.
“I actually don’t see how this fight is collapsing.
