Prime Minister Anthony Albanese bids emotional farewell to beloved TV presenter Carrie Bickmore on his final day on The Project
On Wednesday, Australian Prime Minister Anthony Albanese praised Carrie Bickmore during her final appearance on The Project.
Carrie, 41, appeared deeply moved as the Prime Minister offered a moving farewell tribute, which he delivered live via video link.
The Prime Minister gushed with sincerity as he told an emotional Carrie how much his work on the Channel 10 panel had meant to viewers.

“I just wanted to say a big thank you for your warmth and humanity that just shined through,” Mr Albanese began.
“You talk about stories, but you always shined with the people behind the stories and what it really meant,” he said.
“And that made a difference.”
The Prime Minister continued: “That’s why people feel like they know you, because you weren’t afraid to show a lot of yourself on screen and in the way you interviewed people. “

Earlier in the show, a montage paid homage to Carrie’s exceptional efforts to raise awareness and funds to fight brain cancer, following the death of her husband Greg in 2010.
The Prime Minister praised Carrie’s advocacy work, telling the star her health efforts were “amazing”.
She used her response to thank Mr Albanese, before urging the Prime Minister to continue funding ‘the brain cancer mission’.

“Please keep the pressure on so we can find a cure,” she told him.
The project’s last remaining original host, Carrie bid farewell to fans on Wednesday night after 13 years at the helm.
The beloved TV presenter fought back tears as she told viewers last month it was the hardest decision she had to make in her professional life.

The Gold Logie winner has been on The Project’s desk since the program launched in 2009 and has since become a familiar face on Australian screens.
She will continue to host Hit Network’s national record show with Tommy Little following her departure from The Project, an insider has confirmed.
Her management is also in talks with the three commercial networks to secure her future television prospects as she leaves Channel 10.
The original co-hosts of the Bickmore project, Charlie Pickering and Dave Hughes, also appeared on Wednesday evening to say goodbye to their former colleague.
