Anne Heche warned Portia de Rossi not to date ex-girlfriend Ellen DeGeneres a year before her death, according to a surfaced interview.
The actress, who died on Sunday after a fireball crash in Los Angeles earlier this month, said it would be a “red flag” for her to have with the talk show host.
The 53-year-old also threw a broadside at DeGeneres, slamming her for always driving in Porsches that were “dumb.”
The resurfaced clip, which appeared on his Better Together podcast, comes days after Heche’s life support machine was turned off at a Los Angeles hospital.
She had been left brain dead and in a coma after crashing her car into a house in Los Angeles while using cocaine.
Details: The late Anne Heche said last year on her Better Together with Heather Duffy podcast that she had “warned” Portia de Rossi, 49, not to be romantically involved with ex-girlfriend Ellen DeGeneres, 64 years old
DeGeneres and de Rossi were pictured at the 2021 People’s Choice Awards held at Barker Hangar on December 7, 2021 in Santa Monica, California
Heche was in a relationship with DeGeneres from 1997 to 2000. They were photographed at the 1998 Golden Globe Awards
The 53-year-old suffered horrific burns in the crash and was recorded being dragged from the mangled wreckage by firefighters after it caught fire in Los Angeles around 11am.
In a June 2021 edition of her Better Together with Heather Duffy podcast, Heche revealed that she had moved away from Rossi, 49, from DeGeneres, 64.
She told listeners “Portia even asked me about Ellen” and told her “I’m going to go after Ellen”.
She said she told the actress she would receive no notoriety from the relationship at a time when there were few same-sex couples in show business.
Heche said she told de Rossi, “You won’t be the poster child, girl, because guess what, that poster child has already been taken; and by the way, this n wasn’t a great place.
“But yours won’t be any easier.” And I’m telling you now, like, red flag, red flag, red flag! ‘
Heche added: “I realized Ellen drove a Porsche…then she married one. All she did was drive Porsches and she collected them and I thought that was so stupid because they were so loud.
Heche said she told de Rossi she would receive no notoriety from the relationship at a time when there were few same-sex couples in show business.
Heche said she told Rossi to hang out with DeGeneres, “Red flag, red flag, red flag!”
Heche, who was in a relationship with DeGeneres from 1997 to 2000, knew de Rossi because they both appeared on the Fox series Ally McBeal.
She noted that de Rossi was a guest at her 2001 wedding to ex-husband Coleman Laffoon.
It wasn’t the first time Heche went after his ex-girlfriend. Last October, she told Page Six that the relationship with DeGeneres had had a negative impact on her career.
She said she “didn’t do a studio picture for ten years” following the romance, which was made public after attending the premiere of her film Volcano in 1997.
“I got kicked out of a $10 million image deal and didn’t see the light of day in a studio picture,” Heche said.
She added that the “repercussions that happened” to her also helped to create “part of the change” towards the inclusion of the LGBTQ community.
DeGeneres and de Rossi celebrated their 14th wedding anniversary earlier this week.
DeGeneres took to Instagram and said, “It feels good to be loved. It feels deep to be understood. Love you, @portiaderossi. Happy 14th!”
The Los Angeles County Medical Examiner-Coroner ruled Wednesday that the actress died from smoke inhalation and thermal injuries.

The office also said the 53-year-old suffered a “sternal fracture due to blunt trauma” during the August 5 horror.
Sternum fractures are most often found in patients whose chest hit the steering wheel in car accidents.
Heche also suffered a “severe anoxic brain injury” caused by a lack of oxygen, according to a statement released last week on behalf of his family and friends.
A full autopsy report was still being completed, the coroner’s office said.
Heche’s life support device was turned off on Sunday after she suffered horrific burns in the collision with her Mini Clubman.
She was declared legally dead on August 12 after being in a coma for a week before being taken off life support two days later. She was kept on life support until her organs could be donated.
