“I’m so lucky that my life has always been very, very full and lucky. But I’m in a place where I can enjoy it differently,” she said.

And she learned to have fun.

“I’m now at a point in my life where I know this is the first time I’ve done something remarkable like this, this is the only time it’s happened,” she added.

And she opened up about the backlash she received in 2013 for her Oscar acceptance speech for Les Miserables.

“Being in a place where I could enjoy it was a really positive development…I worked too hard to see myself with kinder eyes to give my peace to those who have not yet found it on their own “, said the star tactfully. .

“So I try my best not to be afraid of what other people might say and just focus on enjoying my life.”

Hathaway also said she was grateful to have been so well received at Cannes this year.

“Being in a place where I could enjoy it was a really positive development…I’ve worked too hard to see myself with kinder eyes to give my peace to those who haven’t yet found it on their own “, said the star.

“You plant seeds in your life, then come those times when you harvest them – Cannes felt like a small harvest,” she noted.

And she also discussed working with Sandra Bullock and Cate Blanchett on the hit film Ocean’s 8 which was directed by women.

“My first day of filming was the day after the 2016 election,” she said.

“We all did our hair and makeup in the morning, then watched Hillary’s concession speech, then cried, then did our hair and makeup again, then worked a 20-hour day. Because women are really tough .

And she remembers looking at all the women and wondering why this hadn’t happened to her before.

‘For example, why has it taken so long in my career to have so many women on set?’ she says.

“And then I remember having a distinct feeling: Oh, this is what it’s like to be a man in Hollywood.” Wherever they go, they are in packs; there’s so much ease in that. And I just wanted more.

“I thought I had to make it an intention in my career. Work with other women and create opportunities for as many women as possible to work together.
