Hollywood actress and humanitarian campaigner Angelina Jolie has written a painful note about the devastating floods in Pakistan. Jolie, who recently traveled to flood-affected areas in Pakistan as a UNHCR ambassador, shared details of the disaster in her Instagram post.
“Last week, I was in Pakistan with local organizations, witnessing the devastation caused by severe flooding that submerged 1/3 of the country’s land,” the actor wrote.
“33 million people are affected and more than 6 million need urgent humanitarian aid. Pakistan still hosts over one million Afghan refugees who cannot return safely due to the current situation,” the Hollywood star added.
Jolie continued: “Those I was able to reach were still in shock from fleeing the Taliban and now know that the country they fled to is in emergency. The level of trauma and compound trauma is severe. Please learn and follow what is happening Be aware of the climate catastrophe that we are witnessing more and more regularly.
“Pull governments to understand that the lack of fair trade, rising emissions and failure to resolve conflict are causing more death and suffering for millions of families around the world,” Jolie said.
“I’ve never seen anything like it and I’ve been to Pakistan many times,” she previously shared. “I am absolute with you in pushing the international community to do more. I feel like we say that often…we talk about calls for help, relief and support, but that’s something very, very different,” the actress said.

She again said that the flood is a wake-up call to the world. “Climate change is not only real, and it’s not just coming, but it’s also here,” she warned. “Even as someone who has worked in humanitarian aid for many years. We think about crises, how to solve them and, what can we do to help rebuild or help children. Now we are in a situation like this where the needs are so great and really every effort means life or death for so many people.
She expressed her concern about the food crisis of the next few months for children, especially for children who she believes will suffer from malnutrition.
“Even if they survive the next few months with the winter coming and the destruction of the crops and the harsh reality… I am overwhelmed but I think it is not fair to say this because I am not living this , so I’m just trying to express myself to help. I can’t even imagine what it’s like to be there.
Angelina Jolie has said she will continue to return to Pakistan. “I will be back and will keep coming back and my heart is very, very attached to people right now,” she added. The actress again urged the international community to donate generously to the flood victims in Pakistan.
