Although more than a dozen Galaxy smartphones have received the Android 13-based One UI 5.0 update in the past two months, the Galaxy A02s is not so lucky. In fact, the phone started receiving the year-old Android 12 update a few days ago. Now, the carrier-locked phone model has started receiving Android 12 update in the United States.
Android 12 update for Galaxy A02 comes with firmware version A025USQU1CVK2 in the USA. The update is available for the carrier-locked version of the phone and brings the September 2022 security patch, which is now two months old. Still, it’s a welcome change. The carrier-unlocked version of the smartphone has still not started receiving the update, but we expect it to be updated in the coming days.
If you have the carrier-locked model of the Galaxy A02 in the United States, you can now download the new software update on the smartphone by going to Settings » Software update and typing Download and install. You can also download the new firmware file from our firmware database and flash it manually.
Samsung launched the Galaxy A02s in late 2020 with Android 10 on board. The smartphone received Android 11-based One UI Core 3.1 update in mid-2021, and Android 12-based One UI Core 4.1 might be its last major Android OS update.
