Samsung is now starting to drop Android 12 update for the affordable Galaxy Tab A8 tablet in some European regions.
Despite the fact that Android 13 is already available for Pixel phones and the One UI 5.0 beta is in full swing, LTE versions of the Galaxy Tab A8 are getting the stable version of Android 12 from last year. This budget tablet was released in January 2022 and surprisingly comes with Android 11 pre-installed. For $229, it looks like a pretty solid package to challenge the older version of the OS.
As reported by SamMobile, the OTA update is now starting to roll out to large parts of Europe including Austria, Bulgaria, Baltic region, Czech Republic, France, Greece, Hungary, Italy, Luxembourg, the Netherlands, the Nordic countries, Poland, Portugal. , Romania, Slovakia, Slovenia, Spain, Switzerland and the United Kingdom.
Android 12 on Samsung Galaxy Tab A8 comes with One UI 4.0 rather than the latest 4.1 version found on the Galaxy S22 series. There aren’t too many drastic changes to the interface, but plenty of updates under the hood to improve One UI on this cheap Android tablet.
Material You and Dynamic Color are included, which sets your device theme based on the system wallpaper. There are also improved privacy controls with new microphone and camera access indicators, plus plenty more that you can see in our hands-on below. It should be noted that since this is a tablet rather than a smartphone, some features may be omitted.
Android 12 for the Galaxy Tab A8 brings firmware release X205XXU1BVI6, which is expected to arrive via an OTA update in the coming weeks in the aforementioned regions. To check if the OTA update is pending, go to Settings > Software Update > Download and Install.
