In the latest episode of our Big Fits YouTube series, Mobolaji Dawodu, Managing Director of Fashion at GQ, and Josh Peskowitz, Fashion Director, find out if two big individual fits can create a collective, or even bigger, fit. When Rihanna and A$AP Rocky, two fashion icons in their own right, combine their style, the result is almost always huge.
Dawodu and Peskowitz rank five of the couple’s top fashion moments: the 2022 Fenty Beauty & Skin launch, a music video shoot, the 2021 Met Gala, the Gucci x Adidas presentation in Milan, and the 2019 London Fashion Awards. The fits are categorized by depending on their degree of independence, but more importantly, on their complementarity. As Dawodu says, “they match each other’s energy, it’s crazy.” There are rules for dressing as an individual and rules for dressing as a couple, but as the couple’s 2021 Met Gala moment shows, those rules don’t apply to everyone. “You have to know the rules to break the rules,” says Peskowitz. “No, you have to steal to break the rules,” replies Dawodu.
