Earlier this year, reports of a warmer Giulia surfaced, which in a way gave us a breath of fresh air as Alfa Romeo canceled the revival of two iconic plaques, the GTV and the 8C. The company then denied the information and told us that there were no plans to introduce a more powerful Giulia. Did we believe them? We are not entirely sure, but there are now more reasons to believe previous reports.
In a recent Alfa Romeo post on its official Facebook page, a teaser video showed a return to the legacy of Alfa Romeo motorsport. The 28-second clip provided with the caption “Stay tuned”. had all the clues for us to confirm that the company is indeed bringing a warmer version of the Giulia.
First, the clip showed the hottest Giulia in an action-packed race, reverberating its predecessor at the same time. There are also words displayed on the screen.
“This is the essence of daring: heritage. Power. Lightness. Adrenaline.”
All these slogans point to a car, the Giulia GTA from the late 1960s. The light sports coupe was celebrated for its light construction and power. The last part of the hanging clip above, which showed a triangular logo with the Latin phrase Audentes Fortuna Iuvat, also adds another reason to believe so. Note that Autodelta, the racing division of Alfa Romeo, has developed the Giulia GTA, which also has a triangular logo. With Autodelta involved in the next Alfa Romeo, it is more likely that the brand will repeat what it did at the time with the Giulia GTA.
The last piece of the puzzle comes from another teaser from the brand:
The photo teaser is accompanied by a caption which says: “The pop rivets on the sides and on the wings give the hull a greater solidity and increase the stability of the car.”
As a reminder, the light Giulia GTA was delivered with exterior aluminum body panels instead of steel, which were riveted to the thin steel interior panels. Pop rivets being the main subject of the next Alfa Romeo, the clues are undeniable but an official confirmation of the brand is still necessary.
Nevertheless, things will become clearer over the days, and we really hope that Alfa Romeo will bring back the Giulia GTA to sit at the top of the range as its most powerful version.
