Alejandro Garnacho seems to like social media posts saying he shouldn’t start for Manchester United after struggles against Leeds

Alejandro Garnacho appeared to like a social media post claiming he was not ready to start games for Manchester United.

The 18-year-old started alongside Marcus Rashford and Wout Weghorst in United’s 2-2 draw with Leeds on Wednesday.

Garnacho has impressed with spells this season but appeared to struggle against Los Blancos and was eventually substituted in the 59th minute by United 2-0.

Goals from Rashford and substitute Jadon Sancho earned Erik ten Hag’s side a share of the spoils on a turbulent night at Old Trafford.

A win would have taken United level on points with second-placed Manchester City and the missed chance sparked fan frustration with Garnacho among the players selected.

The tweet that Garnacho liked before quickly disliking it read: “1. [Marcus] Rashford plays either in attack or in LW – playing him in RW cost us today.

“2. Our depth in midfield is a joke – we ended up with [Victor] Lindelof and Fred in midfield.

“3. Garnacho not ready to start.

“4. [Jadon] Sancho looked great – should start the next game.

“5. Fred was in absolute shock.

It didn’t stop there for Garnacho. He also liked another tweet saying: ‘Garnacho not fit to start Premier League games. I’ve seen enough’.

Wednesday night’s game was Garnacho’s third start for United this season, but he failed to score on every occasion.

His impact in front of goal was greater coming off the bench with three goals to his name.

The youngster also took to Instagram with a post after the draw.

“When you don’t understand what’s going on, remember God is in control,” the youngster posted on Instagram.

“I trust the plan you have for me.”

Leeds ended Manchester United’s 13-game home winning streak in all competitions. The pair face off again on Sunday in the reverse match at Elland Road.
