Al Roker leaves hospital after receiving treatment for a blood clot in his leg… after missing his first Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade in 27 years
Al Roker has plenty to be grateful for, as he was released from the hospital on Thanksgiving Day … although he sadly had to miss his first Macy’s Thanksgiving Parade in 27 years.
The 68-year-old Today Show weather presenter revealed last week that he had been hospitalized, “with a blood clot in my leg which sent clots into my lungs”.
He took to Instagram on Thursday, poking fun at his absence from the annual parade as he left the hospital for Thanksgiving dinner with his family.

Absence: He took to Instagram on Thursday, poking fun at his absence from the annual parade as he left the hospital for Thanksgiving dinner with his family.
On Thursday morning, he shared a video of himself walking through the hospital, wearing a black baseball cap, a blue face mask, a green and gray polo shirt from his alma mater – SUNY Oswego – and blue pants. and black shoes.
‘Alright, this is my version of the Thanksgiving parade, getting ready to leave the hospital. It’s time to blow up that taco stand,’ Roker said in the brief video.

He also shared another photo from home, watching the parade, along with a photo of hosts Savannah Guthrie and Hoda Kotb.

He also added a photo of himself surrounded by family, which he captioned, “So #grateful to be home for #thanksgiving #dinner with #family.”

Last Friday, Roker shared an update for his fans, who wondered why he hasn’t been on the air lately, revealing his medical issues.
“Many of you thoughtfully asked where I was. Last week I was admitted to hospital with a blood clot in my leg which sent clots into my lungs,” Roker confirmed.
“After a medical boost, I am blessed to receive tremendous medical care and be on the mend,” he added.

Roker has worked for NBC in some capacity since 1978 when he joined WKYC in Cleveland.
Roker filled the role of regular weathercaster when Willard Scott announced his retirement in 1996.
