AI-designed supercars appear to be from a nightmarish dystopian future

We do not know exactly what the future holds for us, except perhaps the electrification of cars, which has already started and whose deadlines are already set. But what about supercars? Of course, several electric hypercars already exist today, but what would future supercars from popular manufacturers look like?

This is exactly what Veygo, a provider of temporary car insurance in the UK, wanted to see. Through the use of artificial intelligence (AI), Veygo presents a set of images that imagine the supercars of the future. The cars look menacing, and it’s actually scary to think the AI thought this would be the future.

Looking through the footage, one can’t help but think these cars are from a dystopian future where the wealthy take over a world filled with hunger and despair. And these humans have these cars in their garages. They’re not pretty, but they look exotic.

The Lamborghini, for example, looks like a deformed Aventador, while the Ferrari looks like a sentient 488 Pista that survived a horrible accident. The Porsche 911 looks uncanny, mostly because the AI thought the German brand would eventually choose to change the design in the future.

The AI used here was created by Mid Road – an independent research lab that focuses on design, human infrastructure and AI. The website allows users to sign up and use their AI bot to “imagine” things, and Veygo used it for this purpose. We’re not sure of the algorithm behind these imagined supercars, but given the results, we believe the AI wasn’t thinking about blue seas and green fields.

The Midjourney AI Lab website is free for about 25 uses, then it will ask you to subscribe if you want to use the AI tool further.
