The former athlete was present for the 1996 premiership reunion match between Grand Final winners North Melbourne and runners-up Sydney Swans.
Dani formed a guard of honor with some of his former North Melbourne teammates while cheering on the current side as they crossed the banner to face Sydney in Round 21.

The footballer-turned-coach was born Dean James Laidey and played 151 AFL games for the West Coast and North Melbourne before carving out a 149-game coaching career with the Kangaroos.
It took Dani Laidley nearly 45 years to discover she suffered from gender dysphoria after struggling with her identity since the age of six.
While only five years ago she was formally diagnosed with gender dysphoria and only in 2020 when she transitioned from male to female is something Laidley has carried with her for a long time.

She opened up about engagement rumors to childhood sweetheart Donna Leckie earlier this year after the former athlete broke into talk in January with a diamond ring.
Speaking to Daily Mail Australia in March, Dani dismissed the speculation, saying: ‘We are not getting married and we are not engaged’.
The couple, who had been childhood partners in both elementary and high school, reconnected in 2017 and rekindled their romance about eight months ago.
