The 55-year-old said he recently struck up a close friendship with a female companion, whose identity has not been publicly revealed, and the couple are currently seeing where things have headed.
The AFL legend told the Herald Sun: “It’s really new and a nice little friendship. We’re fine and taking it easy.

Rumors had been swirling for some time that Billy was ready to start dating again.
He had previously tried to downplay reports that he had been spotted on dates with a mystery woman and quashed jokes about it from his Triple M co-workers.
Football fans will no doubt be happy to see Billy open up to love again after his 18-year marriage to wife Nicky came to a sensational end in 2016 after she started dating his best friend, AFL star Garry Lyon.

The two men’s marriages had ended before Nicky and Lyon announced they were a couple, but Billy still felt betrayed because they had assured him they were nothing more than “good friends. “.
After five years of bad blood, Billy and Garry took steps towards reconciliation last year when Brownless said they were in a “good place”, before spending Christmas Day together in 2020.
Billy’s daughter Lucy described the lunch between the blended families as “really special”.

“It worked really well and it was very positive. We are all happy and happy to be all together. It was a great day. We were all very excited about it,” she told the Herald Sun at the time.
Billy addressed the issue with fellow AFL greats Sam Newman and Don Scott on an episode of the couple’s You Cannot Be Serious podcast in September.
He admitted he hadn’t fully repaired his friendship with Lyon, he said the pair ‘might’ be able to be friends as before at some point.
