AEONrv motorhome debuts with great power, storage and tanks

Meet the AEONrv, a new motorhome developed by two software engineers that debuted at this weekend’s Overland Expo West event. We stopped by their booth to get details on this unique motorhome and found it to be similar to the Winnebago Ekko and the AdvancedRV B-Box.

AEON stands for All-Terrain Electric Overland New Ideas RV. The “electric” in its name, however, doesn’t refer to its powertrain, which is the Ford Transit’s decidedly non-electric twin-turbocharged 3.5-liter V6 from the Ford Transit. Rather, it refers to the motorhome’s 24-volt marine power system and software-controlled on-board systems. The AEONrv is charged to support electrical capacity, including 7.7 kWh of lithium-ion batteries (upgradable to 12.8 kWh) and a 700-watt solar panel on the roof.

The motorhome itself is built on the all-wheel drive Ford Transit chassis cab, but with single rear wheels instead of dual wheels like the Ekko. Also unlike the Ekko, the AEONrv is raised 2.0 inches and fitted with improved suspension at both ends, skid plates and off-road wheels with BF-Goodrich off-road tires. It’s ready for serious off-roading, and a winch is optional.

From what we have seen of its construction, the AEONrv can handle colder climates as well. The walls and doors are thick with insulation and the windows are efficient double-glazed acrylic.

The interior layout is also unique, with a large refrigerator located behind the driver and facing the side door as you enter. Immediately behind the passenger is the wet tub, which appears to extend in front of the side door for more space when in use. Behind the refrigerator is a dining area for two that is across the aisle from the kitchen, which includes a decent-sized sink, two-burner countertop electric range, and optional microwave. hidden in the upper cabinets. After some additional storage and a few steps, you reach the bed, which is positioned laterally at the rear of the motorhome.

The AEONrv’s storage capacities are impressive and include a massive 66-gallon freshwater tank, 28-gallon gray water tank, and 8-gallon water heater. And like the Ekko, it has a huge 65 cubic foot garage under the bed accessible from the outside.

The price for all of these wonders starts at $ 194,500, minus the options, taxes, and fees. And there are plenty of options, including a composting toilet instead of the standard 4.75 gallon cassette toilet (+ $ 500), an on-board air compressor ($ 500), and any color other than white (est. $ 2,000 +).

The AEONrv looks promising, and is priced between the Ekko ($ 163,662) and the B-Box (custom built starting at $ 300,000).
