Adelaide Strikers will host Brisbane Heat in Game 40 of the Big Bash 2022/23, the 12th edition of the tournament.
When does it take place?

Where is the game played?
The match will be played at the Adelaide Oval in Adelaide.
Who has the form?
The Adelaide Strikers are third in the Big Bash standings and very well placed to secure a post-season spot, but they endured a night to forget in their last outing. The Melbourne Stars, who have won just twice all season, slashed the Strikers’ batting line-up, firing them for just 108 before winning by nine wickets with over a quarter of innings remaining. It ended a Strikers winning streak.
Brisbane Heat are enjoying a dismal BBL12 and are bottom of the pack after their nine matches, of which they have only won two.
With the bat, Chris Lynn and Matt Short have been in great shape for the Strikers – Thursday night aside. Lynn has 394 carries at an average of 44 this season and is batting above 144. Short, one of only two BBL Centurions in 2022/23, has 379 carries and is batting above 148.
Brisbane Heat need the players to step in with the bat after Colin Munro leaves. The Kiwi hit 278 carries at a strike rate over 150 but has now left the competition. The Heat’s leading scorer in their matchday squad on Saturday is Jimmy Peirson with 194.
With the ball, Henry Thornton is the Strikers’ leading wicket-taker with 16, but most have come early in the season and he’s averaged more than 10 carries per over in the last four games.

What is the key match?
Chris Lynn facing his former club. Lynn was a Heat mainstay for 11 years but moved to Adelaide before BBL12 and found rich form. At the top of the command, he and Matt Short disassembled attacks for fun throughout the campaign.
What’s the weather like?
Hot. Temperatures are expected to touch 33 degrees Celsius towards the start of the game. Very little chance of rain.
What’s up with the team?
Australian internationals Travis Head and Alex Carey return to the matchday squad to give the Adelaide Strikers a boost. Colin de Grandhomme is also back after missing the loss to the Melbourne Stars with a hamstring problem. Harry Neilsen and Ryan Gibson drop out.
Sam Hain is part of the Brisbane Heat squad for the first time and could make his BBL debut.
