‘It’s a big day for Melbourne’: actor Eric Bana is delighted Victoria Prime Minister Dan Andrews has decided to ‘open’ the state capital after a grueling lockdown of three months
“It’s a mixed feeling. I’m sure I’m not the only person who is a bit in shock and doesn’t really know how to deal with it.
Melbourians will finally be able to leave their homes for any reason from Tuesday evening, with pubs, shops and restaurants opening for the first time in three months.
Prime Minister Daniel Andrews has eased restrictions for the city of five million people, which has been closed since July 8 after the virus escaped from two quarantine hotels.
Difficult to understand: “It’s a mixed feeling. I’m sure I’m not the only person who’s a little bit in shock and doesn’t really know how to treat it, ” Eric said.
Pubs, shops and restaurants will be allowed to open with 20 people inside and 50 outside – and those limits will increase in two weeks.
Announcing the changes on Monday, an emotional Mr Andrews thanked the Victorians for battling the coronavirus’ ‘nasty enemy’.
“The time has come to open up. Now is the time to congratulate every Victorian for staying the course, ”he said.

Eric will then star in The Dry, an Australian thriller based on the Jane Harper novel.
“… one of the things I loved about Jane’s book, I felt that she had captured the small country towns so well, that they felt really familiar,” he said of the project.
Over a million copies of The Dry have been sold worldwide. The book has won numerous literary awards internationally, including the British Book Awards Crime and Thriller Book of the Year and the Australian Indie Awards Book of the Year.
