EFL fans won’t want to be stuck on the train without WiFi

As many as 25 teams from the second, third and fourth tier of English football are set to kick off at 3pm on December 10, meaning there will only be around two hours between the final whistles and the start of the 7 p.m. quarter of the Three Lions. final.

This will pose a particular problem for away fans who will travel extra distances to watch their EFL teams play.

Fans like Luton, who face Middlesbrough, and Norwich, who face Swansea, will face long journeys home and could end up depending on the WiFi train for a gigantic game in England.

Sky also claim that the EFL will approve all requests, if both clubs involved agree to the change.

Speaking on the news, talkSPORT host and former Crystal Palace owner Simon Jordan said: “I think it’s probably a sensible move.

“You’ll have the drum ‘I don’t think the World Cup should be played in winter’ to start beating about how the nature of football is affected – but the World Cup is played in winter.

“The fact is the EFL probably makes sense, they make football accessible to everyone, the international front is important, the fact that England are in a World Cup and doing well should be something something we want the nation to support.

“League, Ligue 1 and Ligue 2 clubs shouldn’t be in a situation where people have to choose between watching this game and going to away games to see their team play.”
