EAU CLAIRE, Wisconsin (WEAU) – Much Husky pride goes to Cole Pankratz, math professor at Eau Claire North, an energetic educator who is always happy to lend a helping hand to students and colleagues. Pankratz is the winner of the Golden Apple Award 2020-21 for North High.
As for Cole, he says, while it has been a rewarding experience helping the students through a difficult year, he is not surprised that they were able to persevere.
“I don’t know if I’m so surprised, like they’re resilient. They can overcome everything except the attitude they get into, oh that’s a great way to start each day. They are the best part of the job and so seeing them everyday, usually coming with a smile on their face or at least wanting to work, my God, that’s great. Being so far away from each part, being told to stay six feet apart, not both being all the time, really coming together and helping each other, was a way for us to be able to cross. things and work together. yes, ”Pankratz says.
Eau Claire North Director Kurt Madsen believes Mr. Pankratz’s computer skills have been a major asset in conducting virtual learning with students.
“We have two systems where the teachers are really integrated and that is the solicitation and the team meetings. And getting those two things to blend together was a tough task at first, but people like Cole helped us find a great place and include all of our kids in the conversations so we could be a part of the classroom whatever the situation with COVID, quarantines the children are in, they can come back and be part of the class. And a guy like Cole has really helped North come a long way with that, ”Madsen says.
