Parking brakes, also known as hand brakes, are essential components for ensuring the safety of cars and their passengers. They are designed to hold the vehicle in place when parked and prevent it from rolling or moving unexpectedly. The use of parking brakes has been highlighted by experts and safety organizations as it plays a vital role in reducing accidents and preventing damage to the vehicle or surrounding property.
When a car is parked on a slope or slope, it requires additional safety measures to prevent it from rolling. The parking brake helps hold the car in place and prevents it from moving unexpectedly.
This fact was lost on the minds of two furniture assemblers from Brazil, as seen in an incident on January 19, 2023.
In a video submitted to ViralHog, which we’ve embedded at the top of this page, you can see a Fiat Strada – a small truck sold in Brazil – position itself upside down on a driveway. The driver and passenger got out of the vehicle and began to work.
Unfortunately, the driver forgot to apply the parking brake. This rolled the van down the (presumed) inclined driveway, hit the garage door which was about to close and finally came to a stop after hitting a grassy area across the street. It wasn’t a pretty sight, and you could even see one of the workers trying to pull all the weight off the truck to keep it from rolling – to no avail, of course.
On the bright side, it appeared the only damage was to the truck and the garage door it hit. It’s still lucky that there was no car crossing the street or worse, a person walking on the sidewalk.
Pulling your handbrake levers might seem like a menial task, but let it remind you that it’s just as important as filling up your gas, especially in this type of situation.
