The original story (published November 12, 2021) follows:
Final Cut Pro, Apple’s video editing software, may have worsened its performance after the last update to version 10.6 on macOS 12 Monterey.
Some macOS 12 Monterey users report that after upgrading to v10.6 Final Cut Pro has become slower, less responsive, or not working.
Final Cut Pro does not perform well after update 10.6
According to reports (1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6), the performance of Final Cut Pro 10.6 software dropped:
FCP 10.6 macOS Monterey SLOW AND NOT RESPONDING!
Just upgraded to macOS Moneterey and FCP 10.6 yesterday. I tried using FCP with it today but the loading screen is super super super super slow !!!!!!
I connect a Sandisk Extreme Pro directly to it.
I am also using a 16: 2019 MBP.
Is anyone else facing this problem?

Extremely slow Final Cut Pro version 10.6 !!!
I installed the 10.6 FCPX update on my iMac 27 ″ (late 2015) and my editing has been extremely slow since then. If I just add a transition between two clips, I have to wait a minute or two (with the spinning beach ball) before I can do anything else.
I also tried it on my MacBook Pro (16 ″ 2019) and it works the same. Very boring and counterproductive.
I also just updated both machines to macOS Monterey version 12.0.1 iOS, but was having issues before doing so.
Does anyone else have this problem? No suggestion?

In addition to becoming slower and less responsive, Final Cut Pro would suffer from constant crashes that completely prevent its use, as it does not allow you to end an editing session:
The problem would be on the Final Cut Pro 10.6 update. The previous report states that after rolling back to version 10.5.4 all performance issues are gone.
Therefore, if you need to use Final Cut Pro urgently, you can try downgrading to version 10.5.4.
Apple would know about it and would be working on a fix
One of the affected users reports that after contacting Apple, he confirmed that he was already aware of the performance issues in Final Cut Pro 10.6:
It doesn’t work, I spoke to Apple Support today and they are aware of the issue and are working on a fix! So run Etrecheck or whatever at this point you’re wasting your time!

However, Apple has not made an official public statement on this matter. For now, all that remains is to wait for the arrival of a patch.
In the coming days, if there are any new developments in this regard, we will update this article. So stay tuned with us. You can also view the dedicated macOS 12 Monterey Bug / Issue Tracker.
Update (November 15)
IST 11:40 am: Well now it appears that there might be a workaround for this problem after all. According to some users, not moving your projects / events between libraries seems to help.
