Of course, William Shakespeare wrote King Lear during a plague, but Taylor Swift has now released three albums just last year, so really who’s the lyrical genius now? The pop star takes us back to 2008, with not only the re-release of her Grammy-winning album Intrepid, but with six more new tracks. From feature films starring Keith Urban and Maren Morris to an explosion of past drama, Miss Taylor Swift is really going back to her roots for this and, in the best possible way, it’s too much for our hearts to handle. So put the phone down, delete your old high school friend’s text, and immerse yourself in the sweet 2000s nostalgia below:
With a collaboration with the country-pop star and Swift’s Reputation Maren Morris, “You All Over Me” is for those melancholy days to staring out the window yearning for past relationships. “Tears lost, I swore I would get out of here / But no freedom cleans you / I always have you all over me.”
In the words of Sophie Turner, “It’s NOT a bop.” Taylor Swift lets little Taylor out of the safe for some fun in “Mr. Perfectly Fine, ”which is rumored to be about none other than Joe Jonas himself. Fans even pointed out that Miss Swift says “Mr.” 27 times, corresponding to the infamous story (legend!) of Joe’s break-up with Taylor during a 27-second phone call.
It’s truly heartbroken here with “We Were Happy”.
Now here is the functionality of Keith Urban. That’s really good, but also, imagine if Nicole Kidman mapped out a trail for this. We know she has the chops.
“Don’t smile at me and ask me how I was / Don’t you say I missed you if you don’t want me anymore / You don’t know how much I feel I still love you . “Miss Swift, where do we send the therapy bills?
Taylor Swifts is giving us a “Bye Bye Baby”, but buckle up to everyone, as we have four more re-recording releases to go.
