Chelsea are closing in on signing Christopher Nkunku ahead of next summer’s transfer window.
The Blues are looking to bolster their attacking line as they aim to get going under Todd Boehly’s ownership, with Nkunku seen as the perfect complement.
This agreement came closer to a journalist Fabrizio Romano revealing Chelsea have agreed a fee with RB Leipzig for the player.
The fee attached to the deal is over £52million, with the structure of the transfer also agreed to ensure payments are easier to make.
Romano reports that Nkunku has already passed a medical and will sign a long-term contract which will start in June 2023.
It’s been an impressive season for the 25-year-old, having scored 17 goals in 23 appearances for RB Leipzig this season.
Unfortunately for Nkunku, the striker missed out on a place in the France squad for the World Cup due to an ankle ligament injury picked up days before the start of the competition.
As a result, the Bundesliga Player of the Year is likely to be out until New Year’s Eve at the earliest and may even require surgery on the injury.
