The United States takes a 4-1 lead on day two of the 2022 Presidents Cup at Quail Hollow Golf Club. The United States looked at home in Charlotte, and the Americans look set to win their 12th Presidents Cup if all goes to plan. Adding to their dominance in the foursomes on Thursday, they are now turning their attention to the four-ball where Team USA has drawn with the international team since 2007.
The Internationals team sends Adam Scott first, once again, despite the oldest member of the away team fighting mightily alongside Hideki Matsuyama on Day 1. He will be paired with fellow Australian Cameron Davis as the duo aim to eliminate the American duo. by Justin Thomas and Jordan Spieth. A total of five four-ball matches will be played as Trevor Immelman’s side try to get back in the running.
Despite all the opposition, falling behind by three points at the start of the competition is not insurmountable for an away team as the United States showed in 2019 at Royal Melbourne. In Australia, the United States lost the first session by the exact same score of 4-1 to lift the Presidents Cup at the end of the week with a 16-14 victory. Although the likelihood of the international team repeating this feat is low, it remains a possibility before the second day of the event.
