Wearing long acrylic nails helped Margot Robbie get into ‘The Wolf of Wall Street’ persona. When her acting coach suggested she fake those nails, she told The New York Times, “All of a sudden, like I’m talking like… Oh, I’m doing the accent, all of that. because of the nails.” But the process of putting the nails in during the filming schedule was pretty horrendous, Robbie admitted. “It was incredibly inconvenient for my personal life. I don’t know how other women cope. Suddenly the most mundane tasks were monumental tasks – unbuttoning buttons, texting, tying shoelaces, removing lids…I couldn’t believe how much it affected my life, it was so hard,” Robbie told Grazia Daily.
Another important character element was her spray tan and piles of makeup. “Every time I thought ‘oh my God, this looks awful’, I was like ‘do it’…I don’t like wearing lipstick or loads of eye shadow, and they were staples for the character,” Robbie explained. Between heavy makeup and hair, Robbie spent at least two hours in the hair and makeup chair every day.
