OIL CITY, La. (KSLA) – Dozens of Caddo sheriff’s deputies are searching for an 80-year-old man who has wandered from his home.
Alfred Blankenship was last seen at 10:30 p.m. on Saturday February 4 at his home on the 200 block of North Ardis Avenue, the Caddo Sheriff’s Office reports. He was last known to be wearing blue sweatpants, a blue and tan camouflage short-sleeved shirt, and gray slip-on tennis shoes.
On Sunday, February 5, at 3:41 p.m., patrol deputies responded to a report of his disappearance.
Caddo 911 dispatch records show deputies began a search around 3:41 p.m. on Monday, February 6. The search is currently concentrated in an area near his home and along rue Flournoy, a spokesperson said.
“He’s been known to walk around the town of Oil City, Louisiana, all hours of the night; but his family is concerned as he has shown signs of dementia and has not returned home as usual,” a statement from the sheriff’s office read. “The areas he frequents have been checked, as well as local hospitals and shelters.
“Given the circumstances, Deputies from the Caddo Sheriff’s Office continue to search Oil City in hopes of finding Blankenship safe.”
No criminal act is suspected.
