Pairing is important when it comes to fitness groups. Without pairing, you will not be able to synchronize smart band data with your phone. Although it is easy to pair any group, sometimes they start to give us random problems. If you can’t pair your Honor Band 5 correctly, find out how to fix it in this post.
Honor Band 5’s pairing issues aren’t limited to the fact that the band isn’t visible in the devices section of the app. But sometimes the group will get stuck on the Retry option. If you press Retry more than once, you will get no results. Similarly, other times, you will not be able to confirm the pairing.
Whatever pairing problems you encounter on your Honor Band 5, let’s see how to solve them.
Note: The following solutions will also work for other models such as Honor Strip 4, Honor Strip 5i, etc.
1. Restart the phone and the tape
Similar to other gadgets, you can also restart your Honor Band 5. And, as we know, this can prove to be beneficial repeatedly. So restart your group.
Here’s how.
Step 1: Light up the group. Then swipe down to access More. Tap it.
2nd step: Swipe down and go to Settings. Tap it.
Step 3: Choose Restart from the list.
Sometimes the phone is the problem. So, instead of blaming the Honor Band 5, we should restart our phone to resolve any issues with it that might prevent it from joining the group.
2. Load your group
Your bracelet must have enough battery to be paired with your phone. So, charge it for a while, and then try to pair it.
3. Activate or deactivate Bluetooth
Bluetooth is required to pair the band with your phone. You should also try to turn off Bluetooth for a while on your Android or iPhone. Reactivate it, then try to pair the honor strip.
Pro tip: The airplane mode can also be useful several times. It will disconnect all network connections from your phone. Activate it for 30 seconds, then deactivate it again.
4. Ungroup Bluetooth settings
The right way to pair the group is using the Huawei Health app. If you tried to pair it using another method, such as Bluetooth settings, this is incorrect. So you have to ungroup it.
To do this, open the Bluetooth settings on your phone. Then tap Ungroup or forget next to your group.
5. Update the Huawei app
The Huawei Health app may be suffering from a bug. You need to update the Huawei Health app on your phone and then try to pair the group again. To do this, open the Play Store (Android) and the App Store (iPhone). Find the Huawei Health app. Tap Update, if available.
Pro tip: Here’s how to tell if an app needs an update on Android or iOS.
6. Change language and region
Sometimes there is a gap between the supported region and the language of your Honor Band 5. You need to change the language or region on your phone to check if it helps pair the band.
Change language on Android
To change the language of your Android phone, do the following:
Step 1: Open Settings on your phone and go to System (or General Management).
2nd step: Tap Language. Set English (United Kingdom) or English (United States).
Change language or region on iPhone
Here are the steps:
Step 1: Launch the settings on your iPhone and go to General.
2nd step: Tap Language and region.
Step 3: Tap the iPhone language. Then change the main language to English (United Kingdom), English (United States) or any other supported language. You may need to rearrange the languages to keep the supported language at the top. Then try to pair the group.
Step 4: If the problem persists, press Region and change it to the United Kingdom or the United States.
Note: Changing the language or region will affect other things such as payments and the apps supported on your phone.
7. Clear the cache (Android)
On Android, you need to clear the Huawei Health app cache. To do this, go to Settings on your phone. Then tap Apps> Huawei Health app> Storage. Tap Clear cache, and then tap Clear data or Storage. Restart your phone.
8. Reset the tape
You can reset your Honor Band 5 in two ways – inside the group or from your phone. Let’s check both methods.
Reset from tape
For that, proceed as following:
Step 1: Tap the strip to activate it.
2nd step: Swipe down until you see Plus. Tap it.
Step 3: Swipe down and tap System.
Step 4: Tap Reset. Then confirm when asked.
Reset band from phone
If you paired the group earlier and it no longer connects or shows that the pairing failed, you can try to ungroup it from the phone. Once this happens, join the group again.
Here are the steps:
Step 1: Launch the Huawei Health app on your phone. Go to Devices at the bottom.
2nd step: Hit your honor strip.
Stage 3: Scroll down and tap Ungroup.
All’s well That ends well
All the gadgets are problematic for us, and Honor Band 5 is no different. Fortunately, the pairing problems on the group are not serious. You can easily fix it using the methods mentioned above. We hope that you have been able to successfully connect your Honor Band 5 to your Android or iPhone again.
