When he was little, my son had a basic “tablet” with old-fashioned buttons and a screen not much fancier than my high school graphing calculator. One of the activities was a quiz that encouraged children to choose an option: Do you like singing or dancing? Do you like oranges or bananas? Of course, the host bear character never took sides. “I actually like them both!” it was still chirping.

Usually I would roll my eyes at such a vapid stance, but hey, there are times when you don’t need to take sides. Take brownies and blondies, for example. These two bar desserts are often opposites: you’re either a brownie or a blondie. You like chocolate or you don’t. But yes, I love them – I really love – both!
