The Class 6A women’s basketball playoffs continued on Friday with second-round action in the state. Here’s a match-by-match overview of everything that happened …

No 14 McMinnville 57, No 3 West Linn 53

McMinnville celebrated as it did in 1999, the last time the Grizzlies (18-8) qualified for the state tournament, while Kylee Arzner made two free throws in the closing seconds to top off a 31-point performance in career and seal a second round. road victory against Three Rivers champion West Linn (20-6).

Audrey Roden hit a three-pointer with 21 seconds left to lure the Lions in the 55-53, then forced a turnaround to recover the ball for a chance for a draw. Cami Fulcher missed a disputed lane shot and after the Grizzlies rebounded, Arzner put the finishing touches on victory.

The host Falcons led 33-29 after three quarters before falling back on the stretch. Talia Kahakai-Wyatt added 11 points, Clara Robbins eight and Taylin Smith seven for Liberty.

Zoe Thompson scored a 14-point high for Canby (15-10) and Allie Mead had eight points.

# 7 Sheldon 47, # 10 West Salem 29

The Beavers trailed 7-5 after a quarter before beating the Blues 19-7 in the second to take a 24-14 lead at halftime. Mary Kay Naro led a balanced Beaverton attack with 19 points, while Sydney Erikstrup added 13 and Laura Erikstrup 10.

Sofia Bell led the St. Mary’s Academy with 13 points. Abby Graham scored 11.

N ° 9 Southridge 51, n ° 8 Tualatin 38

University of Portland signatory McKelle Meek won another trip to his future home ground, leading Southridge (19-6) to fourth place in a row for a state tournament with 20 points as the Skyhawks won at Tualatin (19-7).

Kilyn Dawkins collected 10 points for Southridge, who led 26-17 at halftime.

# 12 Mountainside 41, # 5 Oregon City 39

Cameron Brink returned from a five-game absence and had 13 points, 10 rebounds and a blocked shot on a potential three-point try from Tyra Bradford as the buzzer rang during the Mountainside Road win which sends the Mavericks (18-9) at the state tournament for the first time in school history.

The Pioneers (19-7) rallied from a 31-19 deficit in the third quarter to tie the game at 39-39 on Bradford’s free kick with 2:37 left, but Shaylee Gonzalez struck two free throws with 4.9 seconds to put Mountainside back on top. Bradford took the incoming pass and ran upstream, stopping at the top of the arc, but the Brink bound for Stanford backed away and pushed back as the time expired.

Katie Hathan and Mia Martineau scored 13 points each for Oregon City, which has sought its first place in a state tournament since 2017.

No 2 South Medford 70, No 15 Bend 34

South Medford (24-5) will be at the state tournament for the ninth time in the past 10 seasons when Toni Coleman scored 11 points in the Panthers 24-5 first leg in the first quarter, which fueled their home victory in the second round.

Bend (18-7) gave up at 33-21 at halftime, but Bella Pedrojetti made two three-point shots in a 15-2 run to open the second half as South Medford regained control.

Emma Schmerbach led the Panthers with 18 points, five rebounds and four interceptions. Kaili Chamberlin added 15 points, Pedrojetti scored 13 and Sierra Logue blocked four shots.

Kaycee Brown had 12 points for the Lava Bears before missing the second half due to a sprained ankle.
