Barcelona, Spain — Spanish police were looking for 14 people who fled a plane at Barcelona airport after making an emergency landing on Wednesday to get help for a pregnant woman who allegedly faked she was about to die. giving birth, authorities said.

As the woman was being evacuated from the plane, 27 passengers exited the plane without permission and “attempted to flee”, officials said.
The police arrested 13 of them. The other 14 managed to elude the police at the airport and remained free.
The woman believed to be in labor has been arrested on public order charges after doctors at a hospital determined that, although pregnant, she was not due to give birth.
Of the 13 fleeing passengers arrested by the police, five agreed to board the plane and continue to Istanbul. The other eight were being processed for non-admission to Spain and should be put on another Pegasus flight out of the country, officials said.
The Spanish government office did not disclose the nationalities of the passengers.
