2024 NFL Draft: First-round trades the Eagles could make, including a blockbuster move into the top 10

The 2024 NFL Draft is fast approaching, and while the full order of picks is set, most of the league’s 32 teams are likely to move around the board as the rookie class progresses. unfolds. Few clubs tend to be as active as the Philadelphia Eagles, who have a history of fluctuating up and down — especially in the first round — under general manager Howie Roseman.

What deals could Roseman and the Eagles consider this year? Here are several potential trades Philadelphia could consider on April 25, including a blockbuster jump into the top 10:

Trade up to #10

The Eagles probably wouldn’t be inclined to make such a splash unless a high-profile player at an important position moved up to 10th, but that’s not an unfeasible scenario. It may be Notre Dame tackle Joe Alt, a potential successor to All-Pro Lane Johnson. Or Terrion Arnold, the Alabama coverman, a ready-made challenger to Darius Slay. Or maybe even Crimson Tide edge rusher Dallas Turner, who could connect against new signee Bryce Huff following the departure of Haason Reddick. Roseman has a history with Jets general manager Joe Douglas, a former Philly executive, and New York currently doesn’t have a second-rounder, so a move back could boost their 2024 haul.

Trade up to #15

If a consensus top-two prospect at blocker or cornerback falls outside the top 10, whether it’s Arnold or linemen Taliese Fuaga and/or Troy Fautanu, the Eagles might prefer to pounce instead than sitting around for leftovers. Even Quinyon Mitchell, Toledo’s cover man, could be a possibility here, provided Philly is committed to improving the secondary. Edge Rusher is also always a prime target. Meanwhile, Colts general manager Chris Ballard is no stranger to business dealings with the Birds. In this scenario, the Eagles would give up the approximate equivalent of a final second to leapfrog teams like the Cincinnati Bengals and Seattle Seahawks.

Trade up to #19

This is a much smaller jump, but if the Eagles have their hearts set on adding a tackle of the future – they have proven time and time again that they value the trenches above all else – then this would allow a jump of the future. Miami Dolphins and Pittsburgh Steelers, both of whom could use help at bookends, or even cornerback. The Rams, meanwhile, would probably appreciate some extra ammo for the post-Matthew Stafford era, whenever that officially happens.

Trade up to #28

If the Eagles move back, it’s hard to imagine them dropping out of the first round entirely, given their search for immediate depth on a Super Bowl-chasing roster. Here, they would drop six spots but add a second third-rounder for 2025, essentially making up for the 2025 fourth-rounder they once traded away to land D’Andre Swift. The Bills, meanwhile, would likely try to help quarterback Josh Allen, who lost several veteran starters to cost-cutting measures, by making a move for a top leftover, pass rusher or corner.
