2024 BMW M5 interior spied with curved screen, flat-bottomed steering wheel

We are happy to share the first spy photos showing the interior of the next generation BMW M5. The performance sedan was recently spied by our photographers with a heavily disguised cabin. Even this first look at the seats, dashboard and center console, however, gives us a very good idea of what the new 2024 M5 will look like from the inside.

Let’s start with the good news. A flat-bottomed steering wheel takes center stage inside with paddle shifters tucked neatly behind it. There are a few physical buttons on the steering wheel and fine leather with tri-color stitching in BMW M brand colors plus what appears to be a center marker. The seat design looks comfortable with nice side bolsters.

There’s also what appears to be a large curved screen on the dashboard. This should come as no surprise given that BMW is now installing its latest infotainment system on an increasing number of its models. We expect to see the latest version of iDrive 8 software running on this screen with improved voice commands, better connectivity and new cloud features. Don’t let the large screen on the passenger side bother you – it’s obviously not part of the vehicle’s equipment and is instead used by the test driver to collect and monitor data from the test prototype.

The center console houses the infotainment system’s round controller and what appears to be a minimalist gear lever. We were hoping for a more traditional shifter on the performance sedan with a G90 codename, but it looks like BMW will give it the same design as the rest of the 5 Series lineup.

In the attached gallery you can see the M5 2024 spied in two different locations. Closer shots reveal more of the sedan’s front design, including the layout of the daytime running lights integrated into the headlights. The second batch of photos are obviously from the Nurburgring and show the fast sedan with less disguise on the front bumper and shiny front disc brakes. Quad tailpipes and the electrified vehicle decal on the rear bumper, meanwhile, further confirm the hybrid V8 powertrain lurking under the hood.
